Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2 2026: What We Know So Far

Night City is coming back. Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2 has an official Fall 2026 release window on Netflix, and it is shaping up to be a very different show from the one that broke hearts in 2022. Here is what is actually confirmed, what fans are speculating, and why we are already thinking about new designs.

A quick look back at season 1

The first season followed David Martinez, a street kid who augments his body past its limits chasing a shot at legend status as an edgerunner, alongside Lucy, a netrunner with her own reasons for staying in the game. It became one of the most decorated anime of the last decade and is widely credited with pulling Cyberpunk 2077 itself out of its rocky launch and back into cultural relevance.

What is actually confirmed about season 2

This is not a continuation of David and Lucy's story. Season 2 is a standalone 10 episode arc set in the same Night City, with an entirely new cast. Confirmed characters so far are D, a Snake Nation netrunner hunting the killer who wiped out his clan, Weak, once known as King, a veteran edgerunner now living without chrome and searching for purpose, Roman Carax, a young cinephile documenting the city's underbelly, and Talia Yang, a corpo raised woman drawn into the Maelstrom gang's chrome obsessed culture. Studio Trigger returns to animate it, with CD Projekt Red producing again.

How the show will probably go

This part is speculation, not confirmed fact. Structuring the franchise as a standalone anthology rather than a direct sequel is a smart move, it means season 2 does not have to live in the shadow of David and Lucy's ending, it just has to work on its own terms. Given the focus on Roman as someone documenting other people's stories, there is a reasonable chance the show plays with perspective and framing in a way season 1 did not, using his camera as a narrative device rather than just following the action head on. Expect the same brutal tone and Night City atmosphere, just filtered through a completely different crew's priorities.

New designs are coming

As season 2 gets closer to its Fall 2026 premiere and we see more of D, Weak, Roman, and Talia, expect new pieces built around the new crew.
